3DS Price Cut Thanks To Gamecube

Nintendo's embattled president has admitted that the decision to sharply decrease the price of the 3DS was inspired by the Gamecube.

The Gamecube, like the 3DS, struggled to move units shortly after launch. However, with that console Nintendo stubbornly refused to budge on the price, resulting in the PlayStation 2 and Xbox winning the console race in that generation by far.

Nintendo is determined not to repeat the same mistake again, and will aggressively cut the price of the 3DS to get it into consumers' hands.

However, some pundits are pointing to the lack of games for the 3DS - something that the Gamecube also struggled with - as the main reason for the device's failure.
