After an explosive launch, things haven't been going too well for the Nintendo 3DS. It's been outsold in the US by its predecessor, the DS Lite, and topped by its rival PSP in Japan. Sony's NGP has also been stealing quite a lot of Nintendo's thunder, and aggressive cuts to PSP prices have also kept the little black box in the headlines.
On Monday, however, Nintendo revealed some much-anticipated good news about its handheld. Since launch, the device has sold nearly four million units - 3.61 million to be exact.
According to CVG, the company described it as a "smooth start" to the gadget's life. Rumours have already started circling about when the next incarnation of the 3DS will hit shelves, but early indications are that the Lite version is still at least a year away.
In the meantime, people are more concerned with news of the Wii 2, which is due to be unveiled at E3 this year.
