Struggling MMO Darkfall is in for a massive overhaul, its developer announced yesterday. A new update, known as "Darkfall 2.0" has been known about for quite some time, but Aventurine only yesterday revealed just how extreme the changes will be.
"We've considered wipes on various levels," the developer wrote on the game's website, referring to the possibility that characters might get deleted.
"However, these are important decisions, because while this is like a new game, it's still the continuation of the current one. Also, the way things will work in the new version - it would not be as necessary to wipe, but wiping would also not be as drastic as it would be in the current version."
Darkfall, though popular at launch, has struggled of late. The game's free-for-all philosophy has lead many players to quit, as it is easy for other to kill them randomly and make the experience generally unpleasant.
Various bugs and scant content updates have also been blamed for its recent troubles.
