Steam’s success in the realm of digital distribution has resulted in dozens of imitators, but none have managed to replicate the service’s incredible success. Not even the mighty Microsoft could dethrone Steam with Windows Live.
 

EA To Announce New Online Store To Rival Steam

Steam’s success in the realm of digital distribution has resulted in dozens of imitators, but none have managed to replicate the service’s incredible success. Not even the mighty Microsoft could dethrone Steam with Windows Live.

Electronic Arts, however, is going to give it a try with a new service known as “Origins.” The service will focus on PC gaming at first, though there are already indications that applications and games for mobile devices might be added at some point in the near future.

The service will also feature social network integration.

More details will be revealed by the company today.
