You can do almost anything on your 3DS. Anything, that is, except play FIFA 12 online. It was announced yesterday that the upcoming soccer sim will not feature fully-fledged online play.

You can do almost anything on your 3DS. Anything, that is, except play FIFA 12 online. It was announced yesterday that the upcoming soccer sim will not feature fully-fledged online play.

“Currently, we only have local head-to-head play, but server-based online is certainly something we would be looking at in the future," the game’s producer clarified, after many gamers misunderstood claims of multiplayer to mean full online play capabilities.

The previous version of the game for Nintendo’s last handheld console did feature online play though, so one wonders if the development team is being forced to cut corners to make a deadline. Given the quality of many 3DS launch titles, we wouldn’t be surprised.
