Final Fantasy XIV Online Again Soon
Last week we reported that Square Enix had shut down the servers for Final Fantasy XI and XIV in order to save energy. The decision came after the Japanese government pleaded with citizens to conserve electricity in the wake of the devastating earthquake.
The situation has now improved enough in Japan for the company to bring the servers for the popular game back online, but it has warned users that they might come down again if needed.
"Please be aware that we may once again be required to suspend services in the event that the power situation worsens," the official FFIV site said.
Several Japanese developers have taken similar steps in the time of crisis, with the servers of Metal Gear Online also coming down. Subscribers aren’t expected to be billed for the downtime in either case.
The servers will be back up on the 25th of March.
