Final Fantasy XIV has been free for quite some time now, but Square Enix has announced that it will soon start charging for the MMO.
In January, subscribers will be as €9.99 a month to play, which will increase later on to €12.99 a month when the major 2.0 update for the game is released.
Final Fantasy XIV was released earlier this year to universally bad reviews, which prompted Square Enix to make the game free to play while they sort out the mess. By all accounts things aren’t quite 100% yet, but it’s close enough for the company to start charging.
