Metacritic has revealed that it has banned certain reviewers for corruption, and will no longer be taking their publications' opinions into account when compiling Metacritic ratings.
The site, which has become a massive hub for scores for games, music and movies, says that it is constantly on the lookout for corrupt practices, and has no problem in banning offending parties.
"On one occasion I did discontinue my coverage of a publication's reviews because of what I considered to be corrupt practices," the site's co-founder told CVG.
"There are many reasons why I would drop somebody. There's corruption - people can be bought, absolutely."
It is not know who the publication was, but it is certainly heartening to see that Metacritic is aware of the potential pitfalls of its site.
It has been previously reported that some companies give employees bonuses on how their products are rated on Metacritic, so there is plenty of incentive to try and "buy" reviews.
