After some confusing comments over the past few weeks, it seems as if Sony’s new handheld console, the NGP, will be released this year after all.
NGP Still Scheduled For 2011 Release
After some confusing comments over the past few weeks, it seems as if Sony’s new handheld console, the NGP, will be released this year after all. Some while ago SCEA boss Jack Tretton said that the launch of the new device might be delayed due to the Japanese earthquake.
A few days later, however, Sony Japan corrected his comments, saying that there will be no delay in getting the console on the market. They didn’t, however, specify a date for the device’s release.
Recent reports suggest that Sony is still looking for a Christmas launch this year, which would allow them to take full advantage of the holiday shopping period. According to Gamespot, analysts have confirmed that Sony will launch the NGP in 2011.
The PSP has also recently seen a price cut, which would seem to suggest that Sony is looking to clear stock ahead of the NGP’s launch.
