New Wii Won´t Visit American Shores

Nintendo has announced that its new, slimmed-down version of the Nintendo Wii console will not hit American shores - at least not anytime soon.

The new console will not feature Gamecube compatibility, and is going to be significantly cheaper than its fat cousin.
Nintendo has been struggling mightily to shift the Wii recently, which is a major departure from the days when it couldn't keep up with demand for the device.

The Wii U, which is due out next year, is still a long way off, and with 3DS sales also struggling the company is absolutely desperate to generate some cash. Time will tell if this measure does anything to line their pockets in the short-term.
