Nintendo has been in the news a lot lately. The launch of the 3DS has only recently died down a bit, but the fact that the PSP is outselling the new device, and the fact that the DS Lite has outperformed its new cousin in America, has generated a fair amount of headlines in the meantime.
And that's not even mentioning the Wii 2 rumours.
The company was in the spotlight again on Monday, but for no reason the Japanese giant will want to linger over. According to Gamespot, the publisher saw its profits fall 66% last year. The biggest reason was a major decline in Wii sales, which was a major pillar of strength for Nintendo a year before.
It isn't clear whether the 3DS numbers have been taken into account, but regardless, this has not been a good day for the company.
It will be hoping that the Wii 2, due out next year, will reinvigorate its bottom line, and that the 3DS can stay strong until then.
