As we reported earlier in the week, people who already own PS3s are trading them in at an alarming rate thanks to the PSN fiasco. However, Sony today announced that new sales of the console are doing just fine, despite the fact that the PSN has been down for nearly three weeks.
"We continue to see a lot of great momentum at the retail level, and appreciate the support we've received from our partners, retailers and customers since the criminal attack on the PlayStation Network,” a company exec said.“We hope to have services restored as soon as we can."
According to official figures, PS3 sales were up 13% in April, although the Xbox 360 posted strong numbers as well, and remains the top-selling console in the US.
