For a while now, it has been accepted as a fact that the PS Vita will ship with half the RAM originally intended for the device. Developers had somehow gotten the idea in their head that the console, due out next year, would have only 256MB of RAM instead of 512MB.
However, Sony has officially nipped the rumour in the bud, saying the console will still ship with the originally announced 512 MB or memory.
Many developers have said recently that the Vita will struggle greatly in an era increasingly dominated by smart phones and tablets. The confirmation of hefty amounts of RAM for the Vita is likely a ploy to set the console apart from these other devices.
