Warcraft Movie Delayed Indefinitely
Here at GamesWorld, we love following stories about movies based on games. They either don’t get made at all or end up being terrible, and there are usually a number of juicy intrigues involved in their failure. The latest project that has been confirmed as near-dead is the film set in the Warcraft universe.
Spider-Man director Sam Raimi, who has assumed theoretical director’s duties, recently walked away from the fourth film in that superhero franchise. That led to widespread speculation that the Warcraft movie would be fast tracked. Unfortunately, it seems that he has no burning desire to head to Azeroth. Raimi has signed on to work on the new Wizard of Oz movie, and that is sure to tie him down for some time to come.
Though the film is still technically on track to be made, it’s not a good sign that the director has decided to focus on something else instead. In June, Raimi said: "We're still working on the story. We have a 40-page document that needs a lot more work. We're finding the characters and through the characters we're finding the story. We're trying to create realistic characters that can live in the world of Warcraft, as though you were in the game itself."
For now it seems that the Warcraft film will join its Gears of War and Halo counterparts on the backburner.
