Star Trek Online Launches Free To Play

 

Following just about every other major MMO's lead, Star Trek Online has officially gone free to play. Age of Conan, Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons and Dragons Online have all moved away from traditional subscription-based gaming, with great success. STO has been struggling to keep subscriber numbers up, and the devs hope the F2P move will reinvigorate the game. "We couldn't be more excited," one exec said of the move. "Anyone can download and play Star Trek Online at no cost. There's no better way to see how sitting in the captain's chair feels."
